Earlier this year, I wrote a series of blog posts about the Wild White Horses of the Camargue. I will be heading out to the Camargue on Friday to lead our 2018 trip & thought it would be nice to showcase how these imposing steeds look in monochrome.
We always try to offer something a little bit different from other operators & in this case; we include a unique portrait session. This is an opportunity to photograph a white & a black stallion in a studio-like environment with both natural & studio lighting.

Always remember that not all light, especially natural light, is created equal in photography. If you take shots when the sun is at its brightest, the excessive lighting will obscure detail & wash out your image. You are more likely to achieve strong shots in the early morning, late afternoon & on overcast days.

Black & white photos can deliver a strong image that would otherwise look weak & average in colour. If you remove the colour, you can emphasise qualities like shadow, light, texture, & pattern.
I hope you have enjoyed my series of blog posts on the Wild White Horses of the Camargue. I will try & post up an image on Facebook & Instagram every day while I am in the Camargue.
If the white horses of the Camargue have inspired you, explore our current Europe wildlife photography holidays. Our small-group trips are designed around distinctive subjects, strong photographic settings, experienced guidance, & time in the field when the light is at its most rewarding.

- NaturesLens wildlife photography holidays are structured around photographic opportunity - every schedule decision is made around light, behaviour, & access.
- Small groups of 4-8 photographers ensure unhurried positions & individual guidance.
- Single occupancy accommodation is included as standard across the majority of our trips.
