5/5February 2026Winter Wildlife of Hungary I’ve just returned from a trip to Bence’s Farm in Hungary. From start to finish the trip was meticulously planned with nothing left to chance. I went on the trip to specifically learn about shooting at night utilising off camera lighting. The quality of the hides went way beyond my expectations & those coupled with coaching we were given ensured my aims were fully realised. Big thanks to Natures Lens & in particular to their tour leader Pui Hang Miles.Read full reviewShow less
5/5February 2026Hungary Winter Trip 2026Another great trip run by NaturesLens. As always from the start at the airport to the end. 5/5December 2025Brilliant Costa Rica with NaturesLensI spent a great part of November & December 2025 in Costa Rica with NaturesLens. It was my 4th trip to Costa Rica with them - does that tell you something? Each trip has been different as David's relationships with local guides & suppliers has evolved, making each trip better than its predecessor. Costa Rica's wildlife, especially its birds, is magnificent & NaturesLens has found so many locations where photographers can get the best images possible, & if one site is not active, David always has an alternative up his sleeve. Most are shot in natural light but there were a couple of opportunities to use flash to add to the variety. The accommodation & food throughout was very good & we were attentively looked after by David & Tony, our driver. I can't recommend this trip & NaturesLens highly enoughRead full reviewShow less
5/5December 2025Costa RicaDid the Costa Rica trip in November/December. Excellent bird setups at every location, with thought given to backgrounds as well as perches. Flash sessions shooting frogs & snakes & a night walk with more frogs were highlights. Have booked more trips in 2026. Read full reviewShow less
5/5December 2025ULTIMATE COSTA RICAI have just been on the ULTIMATE COSTA RICAN WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY TOUR. A fantastic trip where we photographed every bird listed on the itinerary plus some rare ones not mentioned such as the male black crested coquette. There was also a great variety of reptiles & mammals. The tour was well managed, & there was always a contingency when we had some wet weather. Great food & accommodation.Read full reviewShow less
5/5November 2025Shompole an experience not to be missed. When I first saw the images taken by David & Pui Hang from their initial visit I was so impressed that I instantly booked to go to Shompole. I was not disappointed. What a great opportunity to photograph various species at night. The staff were very helpful & looked after us to a high standard.Read full reviewShow less
5/5November 2025The Company that just keeps on giving!NaturesLens are a company that just keeps on giving! With 20+ of their trips having already been experienced over a number of years, their latest offering of six hide nights at Shompole Wilderness camp in Kenya was an instant winner for me! I love being at one with nature, & this photographic trip has it all. The opportunity to spend 16 hours or so every night in purpose built hides with the expectation of a multitude of different wild animals stopping by for a drink, is what dreams are made of! Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Civet, Mongoose, Jackal, Hyena, Zebra, & Giraffe to name but a few plus a lovely variety of birds too. David & Pui Hang Miles have found a gem of an Oasis here at Shompole. The camp has a lovely atmosphere & great staff who are always very willing to help & are such a pleasure to spend time with too. The tents are very spacious, bright & airy. Food & drink are plentiful & delicious. This trip is a must for anyone seeking to spend time photographing African wildlife at night!Read full reviewShow less
5/5October 2025Shompole with NatureLens…I thought David was an excellent photographic host, identifying & ensuring those who may need help in difficult photographic situations got what they needed to ensure they got photographs they wanted. David keeping an eye on the day to day running of the trip so we all benefited from the experience. Shompole provided some very close encounters with the local wildlife of which there was a great variety & there were many photographic opportunities to use up your card space. Enjoyable time but Africa always is.Read full reviewShow less

5/5October 2025NaturesLens have once again delivered…NaturesLens have once again delivered the very best experience with a fantastic trip to the Maasai Mara. The trip was expertly led & organised by Pui Hang Miles who made every effort to ensure that everyone’s needs were met. The bush camp Tembo by Jackson was ideal, knowledgeable guides/drivers who found some wonderful sightings. Excellent food including the best soups & GF bread I have had for a long time. 5/5October 2025Wonderful Trip…I loved everything about the Shompole trip. The camp was beautiful, peaceful & quiet. Being gluten intollerant I am always a little concerned about food. But the food was wonderful & they went out of their way to accommodate. The wildlife was incredible. Night hide photography is tiring & I didn't sleep in the day. I would have therefore ideally liked a day in the middle in camp photographing the wildlife there & sleeping in my beautiful tent. Lovely experience, handled expertly by Pui. 5/5October 2025A great ethical company Natures lens are head & shoulders above other operators i have travelled with. They are accomplished photographers who go the extra mile to make sure every guest has an exceptional experience & obtain photographs to be proud of. They use only the best local guides who know the area & animal behaviour intimately. They are also committed to sustainable & ethical behavior. As a retired professional photographer my expectations are high & Natures lens have never failed to exceed them. I cannot rate them highly enough. Read full reviewShow less
5/5October 2025NaturesLens - Excellent & EASYAfter previous very saucerful & fantastic trips with NaturesLens, I decided to use them again & re-visit Costa Rica. PN & David (the owners) made the booking process very simple & straightforward & they were both more than happy to answer all my questions about the trip, the itinerary, the accommodation & Cost Rica. This was just the start. This was a small group holiday (4 of us + David), led by David, who was with us for the entre holiday. On arrival we were met at the Airport & introduced to Tony, who was our 'Man Friday' for the entire holiday as well. Tony was a 'local' who knew everybody worth knowing & knew Costa Rica like the back of his hand. Tony drove the mini-bus. Tony took the suitcases to the lodges when we arrived at our accommodation & then he also picked them up from the room & took them to the mini-bus when we were leaving. Tony carried our tripods & camera equipment (when we had taken too much), he also made sure that we always had water to drink & I have never seen a mini-bus that has been cleaned so often, it was spotless. Most importantly, Tony fully understood how delicate our camera equipment was so ensured that it was always safely positioned in the bus & any time we stopped for a comfort break, he would stand by the bus to ensure no one got tempted (not that I believe anyone would have done in Costa Rica, it is such a safe & friendly place). David's knowledge on photography was endless, as well as his experience with different manufacturer cameras, so he was more than able to answer all the various photographic questions that the group had. He was constantly encouraging us & challenging us to try different things with the cameras & was always suggesting 'starting points' for the camera setup. What makes a NaturesLens trip so successful is that David establishes personal relationships with all the local experts & service owners. In most cases he has worked with his contact for a great number of years, so they know exactly what we are after & David ensure that they deliver. This local expertise has ensured that when we were after a particular species of bird/animal, that we in most cases were successful in getting some stunning photographs. Some of the places we were taken to we so far of the beaten track that we would never have found them without this local expertise & local knowledge. The lodges that we styed in were all 'as advertise' & actually were better than my expectations. Again, David has excellent relationships with all the hotel/accommodation owners so if there were any niggles or special request these were sorted out very quickly (in Costa Rica they drink tea black, so having 5 Europeans asking for team with milk always came as a surprise, but we always got our milk). Would I recommend NaturesLens? I can best answer that by saying that I will be returning back to Costa Rica in the next few years & I have already decided it will be with NaturesLens again. IT was a very easy decision to make Read full reviewShow less
5/5October 2025Hungary Winter & Summer tripsI have been going on trips with NaturesLens for several years now. The overall experience is always improving & never went back home disappointed. This year I have been on the Hungary trip ( both Winter & Summer ones ). Everything went so smooth from arrival to departure. Accommodation & transport was excellent, food was great even though I needed a specific dietary requirement. The photography schedule was set to give everyone a chance to try all the possible options, & could be changed around easily. I didn’t hesitate to book again for 2026. Read full reviewShow less
5/5September 2025We went on the Grimsey Island trip in…We went on the Grimsey Island trip in Iceland in June 2025, led by Robin from Natureslens. Everything about the trip was great. From the pre-trip planning & communication, to support travelling to the Grimsey Island, getting settled in to the Guest House, & being led back to the end of the trip. During the trip the guidance & photographic expertise Robin provided was great, & Grimsey is by far the best place we have ever been to for the amount of species available in different lighting conditions. 5/5September 2025Fantastic experience on Skomer - my first ever workshopThis trip to Skomer Island with NaturesLens was everything I had hoped for & more. I chose the timing to coincide with peak season on Skomer for puffins carrying sand eels with the outside hope of perhaps observing little pufflings. Alas we were a tad early for the pufflings but the circus of puffins flying to & from their nests with mouths full of eels did not disappoint. Our guide, photo pro & house chef Robin did an outstanding job providing tips & location advice based on his years of experience photographing puffins on Skomer & elsewhere. I also learned a great deal from the other, more experienced photographers in the group. The entire experience was a thrilling, exhausting & rewarding experience that I’d recommend to anyone considering it. The communications with NaturesLens were stellar from my initial inquiry all the way through the return from the island. They were extremely. professional & very informative throughout the entire process. If you’d like to see any of the photographs I made on this trip you can find them on Robert Garrigus Photography on Facebook.Read full reviewShow less
5/5June 2025Excellent, we had the most amazing time.My Husband & I have just arrived back from an amazing trip to Grimsey, Iceland. Our group leader Robin was fantastic & took time to help everyone, suggesting different ideas & taking us to some amazing locations. He also has a smashing personality & makes everyone feel at ease & is always open for questions & to give advice. The trip was extremely well organized, the accommodation was lovely, the food in the restaurant was great & they were very accommodating to requests. You will see a huge selection of wildlife on Grimsey, including, Golden Plover, Arctic Tern, Puffin, Redshank, Black Tailed Godwit, Snow Bunting, Fulmar, Black Legged Kittywake, Guillemot, Razorbill, Curlew, I could list more but will run out of space. We cannot wait for the next trip with Natureslens, this was our 3rd trip with them & everything was perfect as it was with the previous trips. Read full reviewShow less
5/5August 2024Great photos of Brown Bears & cubsThe week-long, two-centre trip to photograph Brown Bears & their cubs in Finland provided fantastic opportunities to observe & photograph these magnificent predators in a variety of settings & light conditions. They were as close as 2m on some occasions. The playful cubs were of course particularly photogenic. Guides Johnny Södergård & Anna Wikén were knowledgeable & excellent company. A couple of things: 1) Don't expect luxury - you stay overnight in a hide with a bucket for a toilet, 2) You will finish the week needing a good sleep! Was it worth it? Definitely!Read full reviewShow less

5/5June 2024My experience at the NaturesLens…My experience at the NaturesLens Wildlife of Zimanga photography holiday was simply amazing. The accommodation was luxurious & provided a perfect retreat between photography sessions. Pui Hang's guidance was invaluable; her expertise & enthusiasm added a whole new dimension to the wildlife encounters. Speaking of which, the wildlife encounters were truly breathtaking - from majestic lions to imposing elephants, each moment felt like a scene from a wildlife documentary. This trip was a dream come true for any nature lover & photographer! Furthermore, I have been to many more safaris but I must say that I found this photographic trip was exceptional, educational, memorable & very enjoyable, due to Pui Hang’s assistance & care. The island & wildlife have a real wow factor themselves, but the professional yet relaxed approach taken by Natureslens guide, Robin, really made the experience. 5/5May 2024First Class Photographic Tour of Japans' Winter WildlifeI had a fantastic holiday with NaturesLens 'Winter Wildlife Of Japan' photographic tour in February 2024. There was a very good variety of species to photo, all with excellent sightings, & plenty of time with each shoot. The accommodation & food on offer where both excellent & varied, with lots of traditional Japanese cuisine on offer. The hospitality was first class. 5/5May 2024Zimanga did not disappointHaving just returned from a Natures Lens trip to the private Zimanga reserve in South Africa I'm now sifting through the 5000 odd images taken of this amazing place. The combination of of Natures Lens Pui Hang's helpful guiding & overall care taken of the group combined with the the incredible local knowledge & care of Tyrone the onsite ranger made for a thoroughly enjoyable trip. The accommodation & catering were second to none with all Zimanga staff I encountered being cheerful & helpful. One thing to be aware of is the ceilings of the hides we used were very low making it easy to bang your head if not careful so taking some form of padded hat may prove useful. Overall this was a great holiday & I hope to return one day.Read full reviewShow less
4/5May 2024OSPREYS & OTHER BIRDLIFE OF FLORIDAThe main part of this trip are the 4 days of boat trips on Blue Cypress Lake. The lake is a beautiful experience surrounded by the stunning cypress trees with hanging air plants characteristic of Florida. There are many ospreys (340 pairs on our trip) which fill the air with their calls as you travel around the lake. Photography from the pontoon style boat was straight forward as it is very stable expertly skippered by Don who helped with spotting the birds & gave us plenty of time making sure each boat member had an opportunity. We were able to get flight, birds carrying fish, bird on the stick, bird in the nest (sometimes with young) & some flight interaction images. The elephant in the room is that the tannin in the lake means the ospreys cannot fish there only nest there so no diving & fishing shots are available. This part was sandwiched between visits to other nature rich areas, allowing us to photograph spoonbills, various egrets & herons. Also, we had a few trips with the charming burrowing owls. All trips made the most of the best time of day, early morning & late afternoon as in midday the sunlight is harsh & very hot. The guides David & Ian provided advice & help & worked hard on finding us the shot. Read full reviewShow less
5/5March 2024Bald Eagles & Sea Otters of AlaskaJust finished a brilliant week in Homer, Alaska with Natures Lens, photographing Bald Eagles, Sea Otters & a host of other wildlife. We were fortunate with the weather but what really made the memories was the expertise of Natures Lens, @Coldwater Alaska & their Captain, ‘Curly’ John, who used his deep knowledge of Kachemak Bay to find wildlife & get us into the best possible position to make the best of the light & backgrounds. Natures Lens’s organisation was fine. The holiday had a relaxed pace with daily 3 hour sessions on the boat combined with free time to give us time to process the inevitable thousands of images. We also had the opportunity to tour the wider area to experience the breathtaking scenery & also find a Moose or 2. As is usual with Natures Lens, accommodation was on a single occupancy basis, in US style mini suites with all amenities. Alaska in winter is an experience in itself. Combine that with wildlife & it’s unmissable. Thoroughly recommendedRead full reviewShow less

5/5January 2024DALMATIAN PELICANS: Great experience & very good momentsHello, I have been part of the group of photographers who, with Alison Jenkins, went to Greece to take images of the beautiful Dalmatian pelicans. It has been a tremendous experience thanks to Alison's work & her effort to make everything right. We have been fortunate to form a group in which friendliness, laughter & camaraderie have been the protagonists. The services are also great: the hotel, breakfast, lunch, dinner, the van & transfers, the boat & the boatman (Vasilis is a perfect connoisseur of the region & his conversations about the fauna, customs & history are very interesting). In summary, I would recommend this trip which is suitable for any type of person or photographer. You will spend some unforgettable days. Best regards Felix MorlanRead full reviewShow less

5/5May 2023Arctic Wildlife of Svalbard Trip 2023Arctic Wildlife of Svalbard Trip 2023 A photography trip to Svalbard is always challenging - it is a long way north. This year even more so a large amount of late snow impacted on the ability to move around in search of wildlife. This was managed well with a flexible programme & we were kept informed. 5/5May 2023The Leopards of Bera, India.I first heard about the Leopards living wild in amongst the hills around Bera, Rajasthan, during 2019 & eagerly booked the trip with NaturesLens. I have had to contain my excitement until just recently. It was worth the wait though, & as soon as my eyes got accustomed to searching for the Leopards amongst the hills I was able to photograph them often, including lying on rocks, climbing & jumping across the rocks, two sub-adult siblings chasing each other & climbing a tree, & a mother playing with her two month old cub which was especially delightful! We had early morning pre-dawn starts & dusk finishes, with plenty of down time during the hottest part of the day to relax, sleep or download images before lunchtime. Our accommodation was spacious, cool with air-con & very clean too, & run by some very friendly staff who served up delicious food too. It was also close to the Leopard hills which could be seen from the lodge grounds. The lodge arranged for our group to visit a nearby village to photograph the local people in their colourful clothes & the Rajasthani men in their red turbans. Plus a visit to our lodge from a Puppeteer who performed a show of colourfully dressed wooden string puppets - a centuries old tradition of Kathputli. Counting down now to my next trip with NaturesLens in July to photograph the Jaguars of the Pantanal in Brazil!Read full reviewShow less
5/5April 2023Birds of Texas TripI have just returned from The Birdlife of Texas trip with Natures Lens. The trip has been absolutely amazing & our leader David is so knowledgable on the various species & his help & support has been boundless. I have come back with so many fantastic images & this trip has surpassed all expectations of what I expected to see The trip started & finished at Martins Hide. Whereby our local guide Patty provided us with a wealth of knowledge of the local birdlife. We even saw a pair of coyotes coming in to feed. We spent three full days at Jones Vista Ranch whereby we met Kevin the owner who conveyed some amazing stories about the history of his Ranch. All hides were comfortable & we managed to see such a variety of the local birds -we saw around 28 different varieties in total We then moved on to Santa Clara Ranch where we met Dr Beto. The stories behind this ranch were absolutely intriguing & added to the interest of the trip. Again the hides were comfortable & were visited by so many differing variety of birds. Again Patty joined us as a local guide & her patience & knowledge added to the enjoyment of this trip. The food was extremely good particularly on the ranches. Our food was freshly cooked by a local lady who looked after us so well. Our hotel stays were very comfortable. Everything was absolutely perfect The trip is well thought through to enable the participants to get a variety of species & with the differing ranches a real flavour of the Texan experience.Read full reviewShow less
5/5April 2023Natureslens Majestic Tigers of Bandavgarh 2023I went on NaturesLens Majestic Tigers of Bandavgarh photography trip. The trip was excellent & very well organised with a party of 6 guests led by Pui Hang Miles & a local manager, Vedant. Communication during booking & before the trip was clear & helpful. we had 2 game drives every day & 1 all day game drive with plenty of very good sightings. We had only 2 guests in each jeep which was very helpful as it allowed plenty of room & made it easy to get good photographs without getting in the other person's way. Natureslens used a very experienced & friendly team of local naturalists & drivers. Their knowledge of the wildlife & the reserve greatly helped in getting good photographs in the best locations. They also showed a good understanding of the specific needs of wildlife photographers & manoeuvred the jeeps appropriately to get the best photography opportunities. Pui Hang provided some very good advice on camera settings which helped me greatly. Accommodation & food was also good. I will certainly look to use Natureslens again for wildlife photography trips.Read full reviewShow less

5/5February 2023A firework of wildlife photography in Japanese winter conditionsThe photographic trip "Winter wildlife of Japan" with Naturelens was a great experience. One highlight followed the last as we were starting our photographic journey in Hokkaido with the red-crowned cranes. The guiding team had several sites & optimal times to choose from & the weather played along to give us many fantastic photo opportunities. Anspare time was used photographing foxes along the way & a ural owl known to nest in a hole in a tree. Next on the menu were the Whopper swans in the caldera of the Akan National Park. On a very windy, extremely cold day the swans left us in a lurch & didn't make an appearance, so the program was immediately adapted & we went to the Notsuke peninsula, where we encountered foxes, Sika deer & our first sea eagles. The next day, the swans were back & we had photographic sessions with them in several different locations. Again, the remainder of the time was filled photographing other species, i.e. ducks, other birds or landscapes (from the Bihoro pass). We then proceeded to the highlight of the trip - the sea eagles of Rausu. The first & second day we did not have any drift ice & we photographed the birds picking up fish in the sea & flying as well as on the harbour wall. The third day the ice had arrived & we watched about 200 white-tailed & Steller's sea eagles fighting for the fish, sitting on ice flows or flying in a splendid spectacle. In every location so far, we had enough time to see the animals under different circumstances & weather conditions ensuring an optimal photographic experience. After leaving Hokkaido & returning to Tokyo for a night, we set out to find the snow monkeys of Jigokudani Monkey Park near Nagano. Arriving in the afternoon gave me enough time to photograph the monkeys in the steaming onsen pool & set my goals for the next day. As we were about to leave, somebody shouted: There is a dog in the river! I could barely believe my eyes when I saw that one of the rare Japanese serows was gracing us with its presence. So I got to photograph the last species on my list of wildlife I wanted to see whilst in Japan. The rest of the tour included Mount Fuji at sunrise & a Shogun castle including blossoming cherry trees to round the experience off. The team guides David Miles & Ian Roberts were experienced, helpful & quick to improvise in the face of meteorological adversity. They also knew Japan & its traditions & idiosyncrasies well enough to advise those who were traveling to Japan for the first time. They catered both for beginners & advanced photographers. In short, the trip was a non-stop series of great photo opportunities with enough time on the subjects to guarantee good images, an insight into Japanese culture & great group action.Read full reviewShow less

5/5January 2023Amazing Costa Rican birds & wildlifeThis was my first time travelling with NaturesLens & my first real experience of wildlife photography - quite different to my usual travel & landscape photography - & I therefore had very little idea of what to expect. From a photographic point of view, I learned a lot in a short time about a completely new genre of photography. Both David, our main guide, & Ian, a regular NaturesLens guide who joined us for the first part of the trip, were patient & helpful. Jose, the local Costa Rican guide, was very knowledgeable about Costa Rican birds & wildlife & the locations we visited. The group size of six was ideal. We saw a variety of wildlife, with the emphasis on birds, viewed from hides, private viewing decks & three river boat cruises. Accommodation was in comfortable lodges, food was tasty & plentiful & we were driven around in a spotless minibus by the wonderful Tony, who was an absolute delight. The trip was well organised & any unexpected hiccups along the way were dealt with efficiently by David & Jose. Overall, a great photography learning experience for me & an opportunity to see some of Costa Rica's incredible wildlife.Read full reviewShow less

5/5December 2022Wildlife of Costa Rica Photography TourGreat photography opportunity made even better by the care & attention provided by UK host David & local guides Jose & Tony. It certainly helped that the 6 members of the group were happy to accommodate each other & so got on well together & enjoyed each others company. Overall the tour exceeded my expectations. Accommodation was good, not luxurious but spacious & clean. Meals were good - please don't go expecting European/USA fine dining; rather go & enjoy the local cuisine. Photo opportunities were really good for me; bird photography, frogs & snakes. I really enjoyed & learnt a lot from the 2 flash photography sessions we had. I liked that days with an early start & full agenda were often followed by a day with some time for me to relax & enjoy the lodge we were staying in. I thoroughly recommend this tour, it's good value for money & so long as you do a bit of research into what to expect from Costa Rica before you go you're unlikely to be disappointed.Read full reviewShow less
5/5November 2022Great trip with Pui Hang & David in…Great trip with Pui Hang & David in Africa. We "did" in one trip to Kenya. All travel was really well organised. Above all, we appreciated their help with all our photography needs. We really enjoyed chatting with Pui Hang & laughed a lot with David's sense of humour. Lentorre lodge was just amazing, the villas with plunge pool were great. The staff were very friendly, but above all I must mention that for the first time in my life I did not have a migraine due to the chefs being so attentive to all the guests various allergies. The night hide by the waterhole was brilliant. I felt so privileged to be so near a leopard & get good photos. We are looking forward to our next trip to India with Pui Hang & David !Read full reviewShow less

5/5July 2022Birds of El TarayIt was a fabulous location for our week of bird photography. Such diverse natural land catered for many different breeds of birds. The Marsh Harrier hides were fabulous with many birds coming down to feast along with lots of Black Kites. The hydro experience was something completely new for me & I would have loved to do that each & every day. I managed to do all the hides & saw so many different species & just wish I could do it all again. The drivers were so wonderful. Hats off to them - they never seemed to stop: they drove us everywhere & collected us from all over the estate, then drove us back to the accommodation & repeated that for the entire week. Our tour leader did a grand job in arranging the hide visits. The entire estate on El Taray has been left in a natural state to encourage all sorts of wildlife & it certainly does that. I loved it all. Fabulous trip.Read full reviewShow less
5/5July 2022Birds of EL Taray in Spain with NATURESLENSA trip to the bird hides of El Taray in Toledo, Spain in July was memorable for many reasons. Foremost of course was the opportunity to photograph a great number of species of birds including Hoopoos, European Rollers, Harriers, Kites, Curlews, Divers & many, many more in their natural surroundings. This trip was organised by NaturesLens & led by Drew Sproule, whose knowledge, experience & easy going nature helped a group of like minded individuals to have fun & enjoy the whole Spanish experience to the full.Read full reviewShow less
5/5June 2022Bird heaven on beautiful GrimseyWe travelled to Grimsey, Iceland with Natures Lens. We absolutely loved it. A beautiful, wild & wonderful place. Lovely guesthouse with hosts who couldn’t have been nicer. Some guests were fed up with sharing bathrooms but this was known beforehand. Small price to pay for being in this remote & gorgeous place. There are only two guesthouses on the island & Basar has superb reviews from guests over the years - including from me. There were SO many birds to photograph. Thousands of puffins (many carrying fish in their beaks as early breeding got underway) & Arctic tern, wonderful snow buntings nesting & feeding young wherever you went. Black guillemot, razor bills, meadow pipits, golden plover & ringed plover & on & on. We thoroughly enjoyed eating at the island’s only restaurant - the staff were so welcoming. The food was limited but delicious. I have a shellfish allergy & the cook immediately made up another sauce for me. Dan, our guide, was a delight to be around. He was very solicitous of all the guests & made sure to give advice to those who wanted it (I tried & failed to replicate an excellent photo he took of a snow bunting). He spent a lot of time worrying about the guests & trying to meet their every need. All the arrangements for the trip went smoothly (once we had all worked out the digital reception at the hotel in Akureyri!) I came away from Grimsey a whole lot fitter from all the awesome walks around this little island. I will never forget the many hours I spent on a beach or a cliff top watching the birds - & particularly the magical nights of the midnight sun. This is a trip for true lovers of nature. I do not hesitate to recommend Nature Lens & indeed we are hatching a plan to go with the company to photograph bears in Finland with a couple we met on the trip. Thanks Dan & thanks Nature Lens.Read full reviewShow less

5/5June 2022Atlantic Puffins - Great ExperienceI attended the Atlantic Puffins of Skomer trip in June 2022. I found NaturesLens to be extremely professional in their organisation & communication. The trip was as described in the promotional material. The leader of the trip was Robin Lowry. Robin is an exceptional photographer & very experienced in the ways of the puffins & Skomer. Robin happily gave any photographic advice & guidance that was required our group which had a range of abilities & experience. He was also very attentive to our wellbeing & cooked some great food, something that I was a little concerned about as I am vegetarian & you never know what your "option" will be. Our group was a nice mix of people & we got on brilliantly. Overall, the trip exceeded my expectation & I would highly recommend it anyone considering going & I would have no hesitation in booking with NaturesLens again.Read full reviewShow less

5/5April 2022Birds of La Mancha tripA great trip with many photo opportunities. A host of wildlife in a variety of hides. Drew was an excellent leader, very caring & attentive, ensuring we all had a great time. The accommodation was good, & the food both for lunch & dinner was nothing short of brilliant! The estate at El Taray is a stunning example of wildlife conservation, which in turn gives a multitude of birds to see & photograph. The hides are excellent, & my hesitation photographing through glass was very quickly swept away. It gives one so much more freedom to capture birds in flight. I am converted! The guides who looked after us were very knowledgeable & helpful in every way. The floating hides (Hydro hides) were the highlight, giving unique opportunities to see water bids at close quarters. It is an amazing experience being in their world. Getting close to Flamingos, & then photographing Great Crested Grebes displaying in the beautiful evening light was an experience to be remembered for a long time. What an opportunity! 5/5April 2022The Birds of La ManchaThere is no better way to spend spring in Castille La Mancha than at the hides of the splendid Laguna del Taray estate. This vast 1100-hectare property offers excellent habitat for a wide variety of bird species - from the smallest of song birds to large raptors, bustards & even flamingoes! There is an abundance of hides on the property, each suited to a particular species, including floating water hides for better access to water birds. The photographic opportunities are boundless & you easily can come home with excellent photographs of 20 to 30 bird species. NaturesLens’ Drew Sproule runs a well-organized trip & overall is a guide-extraordinaire helping with all problems, always finding great restaurants & just making the trip fun. I find the photographic experience here so good that I have twice made the trip - all the way from the west coast of the U.S. & would consider doing so again.Read full reviewShow less

5/5January 2022Natures Lens Dalmatian PelicanJust returned from a very good trip to Lake Kerkini in Greece with Natures Lens led by David photographing the Dalmatian Pelicans. Blessed with some good conditions the boat trips & land feeding gave us all a great opportunity to photograph these majestic birds in their natural environment. I would describe David as a hands on tour leader who quickly identified those of the group who were novices & needed some in-depth advice regarding camera settings & composition & those of us who were more advanced in our photography who sometimes needed pointing in the right direction. I think it would be fair to say that thanks to David we all came away with some great images & better more knowledgeable photographers.Read full reviewShow less

5/5January 2022Lammergeier, Griffon Vultures & Golden Eagles in SpainI cannot begin to say just how truly awesome this trip was. It made me gasp in absolute joy & wonderment to see so many beautiful vultures right in front of the hide. The Lammergeiers are a truly beautiful & stunning bird. & from another hide in another location Golden Eagles alighting right in front of us. What a wonderful, wonderful trip. Travelling from the UK to Spain under all those new rules, having to fill in online paperwork was a bit daunting but do-able, having to take a 2-day-before-departure lateral flow test from Spain to the UK was all arranged by our wonderful leader & we could do that via Microsoft Teams in view of the authorised medical person. The long drive up from Barcelona airport to the Pre Pyreneese was long but so well-driven by our leader. The whole trip, from start to finish was one of my most favourite trips.....ever. 4/5January 2022Dalmatian Pelicans at Lake Kerkini, GreeceDelayed a year but that just raised the anticipation level & NaturesLens delivered! It’s a tough time for any travel company but David & Pui Hang kept us abreast of the ever changing travel requirements & were super helpful when last year’s was cancelled & reclaiming monies from EasyJet, thank you. This is the perfect length of time to fill your cards with all possible images of these charismatic birds from boat & shore. The boat skipper, Vasilis goes above & beyond to ensure everyone is pointing their camera where the action is about to happen! Accommodation is simple but comfortable, each with their own room. Food is plentiful & hot & after a session, necessary-it’s chuffing cold out! It was great that there is wriggle room in the itinerary to accommodate the weather, we had everything from fog, low cloud, rain & finally clear sky with sunshine & were able to go on the boat on our last morning (rescheduled from another morning with torrential rain) to enjoy a sunrise & amazing red/pink light. David will give a run down of the photographic potential images & where to start with settings & what to anticipate/expect the birds to do. He is always available for help at any time with a wealth of both local & international knowledge. Knockout trip.Read full reviewShow less

5/5November 2020Well done NatureslensI had been on my first wildlife photography trip with Natureslens in january 2020, having had a excellent trip, I booked another trip, this time to photograph the Pelicans of lake Kerkini in Greece for 2021. As we all know the pandemic hit. I contacted Natureslens who told me not to pay the final balance for the trip & wait to see how things were going. At the beging of november they contacted me to say,the trip would not be going ahead as easyjet had canceled all flights for January 2021. They gave me three options to transfer my booking to 2022,( of which I did ) have a full refund of any monies paid or book onto any of there other trips. In view of the present uncertain times I choose the full refund & the money was transferred back into my account in less than 24 hours. 5/5November 2020I find that being polite gets a better response than making demandsIf the reviewer below really is in the travel industry as he professes, then I would think that he should be aware of how terms & conditions work, he also should be aware that working with companies instead of making demands on them often produces better results. His response comes across as a series of demands of how he expected NaturesLens to sort out a mess not of their making, if he didn't ask for a transfer or a credit note for his deposit until several emails later but did ask for a cancellation, then he needs to take this matter up with his travel insurer. I know for a fact that NaturesLens issue cancellation invoices in this scenario & his travel insurer will now be the right recourse for the deposit loss. If, as he admits, he then posted on social media numerous times - the amount of times seems to be acknowledged as being multiple - this could be seen as further antagonising the situation by the reviewer & that he has to date only made demands, not attempted to work things out.Read full reviewShow less

5/5October 2020COVID well handled.I was booked to travel with NaturesLens in March to see tigers in India but the trip was postponed to 2021 when the country closed their borders. NaturesLens were incredibly helpful in helping me get a refund for my flights as I didn't want a voucher & went above & beyond to help me when I had trouble getting a refund for my internal flights. I feel the negative review below is unfair because I know from my own personal experience just how hands on they are with their business & ensuring that their guests are kept up to date with regards to their trips. Only last week they contacted me to canvas my opinion with regards to postponing the India trip again from 2021 to 2022 based on feedback from their suppliers. They clearly have their fingers on what's happening & I am very comfortable & happy with them. So much so that I have just booked to go to Sri Lanka in 2023 with them!Read full reviewShow less
5/5October 2020Curse of COVID fantastically handledWith reference to the review that NaturesLens have received regarding their refund policy, this is all clearly stated in their terms & conditions, follow the correct procedure & NaturesLens treat you very fairly. I was booked on, & eagerly looking forward to, a holiday to India that should have taken place in March 2020. Thanks to COVID this was cancelled at very short notice due & NaturesLens took care of everything, even assisting in obtaining refunds for our airline tickets. They kept me fully informed throughout the process & rebooked the holiday & all it's elements for spring 2021. However, due to ongoing COVID issues, it has now been delayed again until 202. This was a a decision that was made early & communicated well, all our options were presented to us & it was handled very clearly. 5/5October 2020Excellent handling of issues in these times of the pandemicWell, the pandemic has certainly played havoc with travel plans, I travel a lot with NaturesLens & have seen five 2020 trips having to be postponed; NaturesLens ask for only a couple of things, act politely with them & work with them to resolve situations. I have moved all our trips into future years, I have had assistance from them on gaining refunds for flights & I have been fully kept in the loop. Often I have hotels or parking booked at airports prior to a trip & NaturesLens have kept me informed of what is going on so that I have lost no money. NaturesLens have fully adapted to the needs of the travel industry in the post-pandemic world, the have introduced a booking guarantee & I have found them to be very flexible - if you are worried about their refund policy, take it from me that you do not need to be, they follow the standards of the industry, follow FCO advice & actively help clients out when travel plans do go off piste - in the case of some of my trips, they were postponed ahead of time, just because the clients were not happy with the situation on the country that we were supposed to be travelling to.Read full reviewShow less
5/5March 2020Fantastic Winter Photography in Hokkaido, JapanJust returned from my first trip with NaturesLens. I visited Japan with the intention of photographing Stellar Sea Eagles, Whit-tailed sea eagles, Red Crowned cranes & Whooper Swans. I specifically picked this trip because it appeared that it provided the most opportunities to get great shots especially during extreme cold & iffy weather conditions. (For example, six boat trips on the sea ice was a fantastic way to hone one’s skills & get great shots with practice.) & I can happily report that the experience exceeded my expectations. The NaturesLens guides knew the area well & provided just the right amount of instruction as required by each participant. & the group size was small which made organization much easier for everyone. The guides were also willing to alter the itinerary as necessary if the group decided to be creative & vary from the plan. 5/5July 2019Skomer with NaturesLensSkomer is a beautiful part of the world & it was a real privilege to share it with a bunch of photographers - particularly when the day trippers had left. Our two photographer guides were really committed to improving the performance of all participants & were always on hand to advise & chat. It helps to know what it is you hope to achieve before you arrive - birds in flight, portraits etc. If you do you will get the right advice to help achieve your goals. They even sort out all the food!Read full reviewShow less
5/5July 2019Excellent tripsExcellent trips. I've been on two NaturesLens trips, one to northern Sweden for golden eagles & forest birds, one to see iced up grizzly bears in the Yukon. Both of these trips have resulted in a stellar collection of images & have been great fun. I'd highly recommend NaturesLens.Read full reviewShow less

5/5June 20195 stars for sure!5 stars for sure!! I’ve been on numerous Natures Lens workshops here in the UK & around the world, & can’t wait to go on my next one with them. The communication they provide is professional, & ensures that the lead-up to the trip is as smooth as possible, you know what to expect on the trip, & most importantly, what to take with you! Once there, it’s clear that long & careful planning has gone into the trip in order to give you the most & best possible opportunities to photograph wildlife in their natural environments. They obviously take great pride in seeing what photographs their clients can achieve, & arevhappy to have some flexibility, if the trip permits, so that you can try & get that one shot you’re after. As always, the tour leads are experienced photographers & are more than happy to give you any help & advice you may want with your gear, composition, technique, etc. Most of all, a photography trip with Natures Lens isn’t a workshop - it’s a photography holiday. It’s an opportunity to share your wildlife photography passion with like minded people, take great photos, learn new things, see nature & wildlife at it’s best, & have lots of fun & make new friends in the process.Read full reviewShow less
5/5April 2019Absolutely loved this tripVery well organized, with all the right information. Often smaller groups which is a big advantage. Always ready to answer questions if you have any. They always strive to put the clients in the best possible situations for them to make some really nice shots. Natureslens is highly professional & just really nice people tooRead full reviewShow less
5/5April 2019Fantastic Photographic ExperienceI was lucky enough to photograph the wild white horses in the Camargue with Natures Lens. Being relatively new to wildlife photography I was a little nervous about booking the trip but Pui Hang Miles was absolutely brilliant, we talked at length before the trip, where she told me exactly what to expect & what equipment I should consider. During the trip Pui helped with my settings & composition to ensure I got the best shots possible, after each shoot we discussed how things went & how I could improve for the next one, we reviewed photographs & discussed how editing could further improve the photos I had taken. Pui even gave up some of her down time to go out & practice some different photographic techniques to give me more confidence. The trip itself was really well planned, the shoots were brilliant, the locations were well thought out, & the utmost care & consideration was given, not only to everyone on the group but to the horses & the environment. Both guides made sure that everyone got their shots & were happy. After the shoots Pui came out in the evenings with the group & again made sure that everyone had a great evening. I would whole heartedly recommend this trip & Natures Lens as they really do care about every customer & what they do. I will certainly be doing this trip again & I will be going many more trips with them, my only regret is that I didn't book this trip sooner.Read full reviewShow less
5/5April 2019NaturesLens is my first choice for serious wildlife photography !So far I have been on two NaturesLens tours & both were absolutely fantastic ! The Costa Rica tour was the best photographic holiday I ever had. We saw an incredible number of bird species & other wildlife - much more than I could have hoped for. The organization was superb & the whole trip was a wonderful experience. I have already booked two more trips with NaturesLense & can hardly wait till they start. These are tours every serious photographer will love. You might just get more photos out of it than you can deal with :-).Read full reviewShow less
5/5April 2019Regular & repeat customer.I've been on one or two Natureslens trips every year for the past 5 years - & to a variety of locations around the world. They have always offered exceptional value for money considering you get a room to yourself. A lot of work goes into making each trip an unforgettable experience & this enthusiastic bird photographer can't recommend them enough. The owners are friendly; the guides are great; the locations are superb; & the variety of species I have had the pleasure of photographing is mind-blowing. I always come home with 1000s of great images. Oh, & you meet some great like-minded people too - I've made some good friends.Read full reviewShow less

What matters is the pattern. The same themes come up again & again: careful planning, honest expectations, experienced guidance, small groups, & enough time to work a subject properly.
