Financial Protection for Your Wildlife Photography Holiday

Photography holidays provided by a UK or EU operator require financial protection by law. Here's what that actually means, & why it applies to trips booked with NaturesLens.

What Counts as a Package Holiday

A trip is legally a package if it runs 24 hours or more, or includes overnight accommodation, & combines two or more of: transport, accommodation, car rental, or a tourist service such as guiding. Almost every NaturesLens holiday - even a two-day workshop with an overnight stay - meets that bar.

Once a trip qualifies, the operator must comply with the package tour regulations. There's no size exemption - it applies whether you're booking with a large tour operator or a small independent photographer.

The Package Travel & Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018

In force since 1 July 2018, implementing the EU's 2015 Package Travel Directive into UK & EU law. In practice: if your operator goes out of business, or simply can't deliver the holiday you paid for, you're entitled to a full refund - or, if you're already abroad, to be brought home. That protection sits behind the booking, not on top of it.

How This Applies to NaturesLens

Every wildlife photography holiday booked with NaturesLens requires, & receives, both financial & legal protection under these regulations - your money & your trip are secure. See our booking guide for where this fits into the process.
