August is our quietest month for scheduled departures, which makes it a genuinely good month to plan ahead rather than travel. Here’s what’s actually on, & why the quiet spell is worth using well.

What’s the one trip running in August?

The Mara, Without the Crowds - African Wildlife of the Lemek Conservancy is our single August departure, giving you the Maasai Mara ecosystem’s civets & big cats without the crowds of the main reserve. It’s a genuinely different way to experience the same landscape most people only see at its busiest.

Lemek Conservancy gives you the same landscape & wildlife as the main Maasai Mara reserve, with a fraction of the vehicle traffic.

Why does NaturesLens run so few trips in August?

August sits between our main European & Arctic season & the start of East Africa’s peak months, so it’s naturally a quieter point in the calendar. Rather than schedule trips for the sake of it, we’ve kept August deliberately light & used it instead as the best month to plan ahead.

What should I do with a quiet August?

Book ahead. September’s Maasai Mara season & the run of East African trips that follow fill quickly, & August is exactly the right amount of notice to secure a place before the best dates go. It’s also a sensible month to plan a first trip for the following year if a specific species or season is the priority.

A quiet month by design rather than accident, & the best time in our calendar to plan your next one.
