Specific Location

Sarapiquí

NaturesLens visits Sarapiquí on small-group wildlife photography holidays in Costa Rica, with time here planned around Basilisk Lizard, Blue Jeans Poison Dart Frog, Chestnut-headed Oropendola, Chestnut-mandibled Toucan & Collared Aracari rather than general sightseeing. Current itineraries using Sarapiquí include Ultimate Costa Rican Wildlife, with photography shaped around hide, boat-based, flight, garden & close-up & night or low-light photography sessions. A lowland rainforest region on Costa Rica’s Caribbean slope, home to the La Selva Biological Station, which packs roughly 700 bird, 500 butterfly & numerous amphibian species into just 15 square kilometres. Great Curassow is a signature sighting, alongside strawberry, green-&-black & blue-jeans poison dart frogs, Honduran white bats & a wide range of toucans & trogons in the dense understorey.
