Medium - Balanced Days with Moderate Activity

Our Medium graded trips are designed for wildlife photographers who are comfortable with active field days, varied terrain, & adapting quickly to changing light & behaviour. You may need to walk a little further, reposition without much notice, or remain standing & alert for extended periods. There are no extreme hikes or technical challenges - but these are not leisurely sightseeing days either.

Conditions can be demanding as well as the terrain. This may include prolonged sub-zero temperatures in Japan or sustained dry heat in destinations such as Morocco. You should be confident working your camera outdoors for several hours at a time, with reasonable mobility, steady balance, & the stamina to stay focused in variable weather. If you are seeking minimal walking or guaranteed comfort, a lower grading may be more appropriate.

Medium-graded trips typically include:

  • Short to moderate walks between photographic locations, often on uneven or natural ground
  • Extended time in the field waiting for behaviour, light, or activity to develop - sometimes in cold, heat, or wind
  • Flexible repositioning to respond to wildlife movement or changing conditions
  • Early starts or later finishes to make the most of the best photographic light

This medium grade suits photographers who are comfortable carrying their equipment, spending longer periods outdoors, & adapting to the rhythm of wildlife rather than a fixed sightseeing schedule.
