Olive Baboon at Lobo Valley

In the far northern reaches of the Serengeti, Lobo Valley is one of the ecosystem's most remote & dramatic corners, its open savannah punctuated by rugged granite kopjes that offer superb vantage points for spotting Olive Baboon troops moving through the landscape. The rocky outcrops provide a striking natural backdrop against which to frame these primates, September being the month our Lions of the Serengeti holiday visits this area. Photographers exploring Lobo Valley during this trip should keep cameras ready, as the kopjes & surrounding grassland offer varied opportunities for capturing this species against the wider scenery. Patience among the granite boulders can be well rewarded in this quiet, less-visited part of the park.
