Oustalet's chameleon is one of the largest chameleon species in the world, native to Madagascar, with adults reaching up to 68 cm in length. Best time

Early morning hours between 7am & 10am when the animal is warming up & less likely to flee. The dry season from April to October generally offers clearer conditions & more predictable sightings in Madagascar.

Approach

Photograph in the early morning when chameleons are slow-moving & basking, making them easier to approach for close-up shots. Use a macro lens or extension tubes to capture fine scale detail & the distinctive turret-like eyes. A circular polarising filter can help reduce glare from foliage & bring out the subtle colour variations in the skin.
