Thick-billed Lark at Saharan Desert

The stony hamada plains & scattered acacia scrub along the fringes of the Saharan Desert in southeastern Morocco offer a fitting stage for photographing the Thick-billed Lark, a bird well-suited to this stark, open terrain. Photographers joining the Fennec Foxes & other Moroccan Wildlife holiday in May will find the desert's transitional edge, where the Atlas Mountains dissolve into dune fields & gravel plains, an ideal setting to work with. The wide, uncluttered backdrop of hamada & sand allows for compositions that emphasise both the lark's subtle plumage & the sheer scale of its arid surroundings. Patience pays off here, as the open ground offers clear sightlines once the bird is located among the sparse vegetation.
