Red Fox at Pusztaszer

Pusztaszer, a quiet village on the Great Hungarian Plain near Szeged, is home to photographer Bence Máté's family farm & its network of purpose-built hides set among wetland, meadow & forest-edge habitat. Red fox turns up here alongside species such as European bee-eater, hoopoe, kingfisher, roller & a range of owls, making it a rewarding spot to spend time at the hides. Those joining the Hungarian Winter Wildlife holiday visit in February, when conditions on the plain make for productive photography from these carefully positioned hides.
