Otter at Pusztaszer
Pusztaszer, on the Great Hungarian Plain near Szeged, is best known to visitors of the Hungarian Winter Wildlife holiday for its purpose-built hides overlooking wetland, meadow & forest-edge habitat on Bence Máté's family farm. February visits offer the chance to work otters into frame from these specialist setups, alongside other species drawn to the same mix of habitats, including European bee-eater, hoopoe, kingfisher, roller & various owls. The fixed hide positions here are ideal for settling in & waiting for otter activity along the water's edge without disturbing the surrounding wetland. As with all sightings at this site, patience at the hide is key to capturing a clean, considered image.
